Spring And The Cherry Blossom Trees

No, this is not a cherry blossom tree. This is Kylie at the library yesterday.

We had stopped at King Soopers (Fry's, Kroger, whatever) before we went to the library. They were having a "grand opening" because they finally finished their dang remodeling. They had face-painting. You know we had to do that. It did turn out pretty cute.

This is at City Park in downtown Denver, right next to the zoo. They don't have a whole lot of cherry blossom trees yet, but they plant more every year.

I think they only blossom for about 2-3 weeks in April.

Hello, Mr./Ms. Goose! You and your friends make a LOT of noise.

Here's a slightly smaller cherry blossom tree. They have large ones, smaller ones, and ones that have just been planted.

The lake at City Park.

I love the layers in this view. The lake, the building and trees behind that, the buildings of downtown Denver behind the park, and the snowy mountain way off in the distance.

A different strain of cherry blossom tree, the pink kind?

I wanted a cool close-up of the blossoms, but this is the best my point-and-shoot camera can do. So the really close ones are blurry. Dumb camera.

We went to the playground, and the monkey Kylie escaped up a large pine tree.

Then Shannon decided to join her.

After the park, we went to Coldstone. There was a guy working there that noticed Shannon's sweatshirt, and asked her if she knew anyone who went to ASU. She said no. Um, hello? Apparently she's not met me. Or Mimi and Grandad. Anyway, he was from Gilbert and had gone to Highland high school. Small world, right?
